Plantings is the term used to describe the materials within a design plan that ARE planted or alive. These materials may, and often due change form after the job's completion. Anticipating the changes that plant material will evolve into is a strong consideration within the design phase of a project.

Landscape construction or hardscapes, is everything in the landscape that is NOT planted or alive. With minor exception they do not change form after the job's completion.
